Sussex Technical High School Leadership

Dr. John Demby, Principal

Dr. Demby has been principal at Sussex Tech since 2010, previously serving as assistant principal from 2005-2010. He has also been an instructor, student enrichment coordinator and youth care worker at Delaware Technical Community College, and a staff member at youth-serving programs in Florida and Maryland. Dr. Demby holds an Ed.D. in education and leadership from Wilmington University, a master's in special education from Delaware State University, and a bachelor's in behavioral science from Wilmington University. He tells anyone and everyone that he is the "proudest principal in America."

Dr. Holly Langley, Assistant Principal

Dr. Langley came to Sussex Tech in 2018 after a career in teaching social studies, including two years at Parkland High School in North Carolina and 16 years at Caesar Rodney High School. She has also taught courses at Wilmington University and Delaware Technical Community College. Dr. Langley holds an Ed.D. in educational leadership from the University of Delaware, a master’s of instruction in educational technology from the University of Delaware, and a bachelor’s degree in social science education from Elon University.

Dr. Deangello Eley, Assistant Principal/Dean of Students 

A Sussex Technical High School graduate, Dr. Eley was promoted to assistant principal and dean of students in 2019 after nine years as a criminal justice teacher at Sussex Tech. He previously worked as a hearing officer with Sussex County Family Court. Dr. Eley holds an Ed.D. in school leadership and innovation from Wilmington University, a master’s of science in administration of justice from Wilmington University, and a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies from Wesley College.

Mr. Dean Johnson, Assistant Principal

Mr. Johnson was promoted to assistant principal in 2018 after 11 years as a science teacher at Sussex Tech. Mr. Johnson holds two master’s degrees, in applied educational technology and school leadership, both from Wilmington University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in earth science education from the University of Delaware.
