RAPID TRAINING COURSE DESCRIPTIONS 
Interest Form: Rebuilding Delaware's Workforce Through Rapid Training

Rapid Pre-Apprenticeship Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing Training  

Pre-Apprenticeship Training is the first step towards a career in the skill trades. This foundational course will cover Core Curriculum used in the Apprenticeship training while exploring the skilled trades Sussex Tech has to offer. Students will be exposed to electrical, plumbing, or HVAC, and includes OSHA 10 training. Upon completion, course hours can be applied for advanced placement into year one apprenticeship training.

Rapid Pre-Apprenticeship Welding Training

Pre-Apprenticeship Training is the first step towards a career in the skill trades.  This foundational course will highlight NCCER Year 1 Welding curriculum used in apprenticeship training. Learn from the one-on-one guidance of your instructor.  Stick, Gas, MIG, or TIG available. Upon completion, course hours can be applied for advanced placement into year one apprenticeship training. These classes are restricted to 15 students and fill up fast.

NOTE: Gloves, safety glasses, and appropriate footwear is required.   Welding safety equipment will be provided to qualified individuals.   


Rapid Automotive ASE G-1 
Maintenance and Light Repair Training 

This program is designed to prepare students to take the Automotive Service Excellence exam and advance to the ASE G1 Certification upon completion of the required one-year experience in the automotive industry. Upon completion, 72 course hours can be applied for advanced placement into year one apprenticeship training.

 Training starts January 5th. Free training program opportunities are made possible by grant funding through the Delaware Department of Labor. The funding is intended to help the unemployed, underemployed, and populations affected by COVID-19. Seating is limited. Candidates must meet basic eligibility requirements, which include but are not limited to: 

  • Availability for regular attendance each class
  • Possession of a Social Security card
  • Proof of birthdate and US residency
  • The desire to work full-time
  • Complete a DJL account
